Anyone selling goods or services in a transient manner (including door to door) within the Borough is required, by ordinance, to register with the police department prior to doing business.
The Police Department reminds residents that anyone coming to your home offering work or soliciting sales should have proper identification and a permit issued by the Police Department. Before a door-to-door solicitation permit is issued in the borough, the individual and business must undergo a thorough background check. This permit must be shown to the borough resident upon initial contact and must always be on display in full view.
To protect yourself and your neighbors, we ask that all residents not allow anyone into your home or provide any personal information to anyone who does not have a permit and/or a valid ID stating who they work for. If you are even remotely concerned about a person who appears at your residence, please check their status before allowing them any access to your personal information or property.
